Just got back from spending a very relaxing 7 days on the Greek island of Kefalonia. Kefalonia is located in the Ionian Sea 30 miles west of the Greek mainland. It is the largest island in the Ionian island group and is a fabulous destination for couples, groups of friends, families, and really just about anyone! The island has something for everyone and is an absolutely breathtaking mix of mountains with steep cliffs, greenery, seascapes with white sandy beaches and azure waters, and tons of places to explore in between. Read on for my recommendations of what to do, where to stay and most importantly where to eat in Kefalonia!
As we enter some of the last weeks of summer (officially), I have two things on my mind: (1) where I am I jetting off to so I can extend my summer and (2) what will I be adding to my closet this fall. I am a self-proclaimed summer girl, but when it comes to fashion, fall is my season for sure. I have always felt that fall fashion leaves so much room for creativity - there are so many different silhouettes to choose from and layering is certainly my best friend in the fall! To make shopping within the next few weeks easier for you, I have broken down some of the must have trends that you should keep an eye out for.

Traveling is by far one of our favorite things to do at The Sophisticato. Whether we are relaxing in Nafplio, visiting Mickey Mouse in Disney World, or site seeing in Ireland - traveling is definitely something that always puts a smile on our faces. If you follow us on Instagram, you may have noticed that I just spent a beautiful week in Riviera Maya - a seaside retreat in Mexico. I have stayed in my fair share of waterfront resorts, but this resort really takes the cake - learn why after the jump!
I just returned back from a 3 day weekend on the Greek island of Ikaria. This island is located off the beaten path in the southeastern Aegean Sea about a 7-hour ferry boat ride leaving from the Port of Piraeus in Athens, Greece. Although it is a bit far to get to via ferry you can also book a flight from Athens to Ikaria that will get you there in about an hour or so. Regardless of your preferred mode of transport Ikaria is worth the travel time either way. It is an island unlike any other Greek island that I have traveled to thus far and for many specific reasons. Aptly referred to by the New York Times as "The Island Where People Forget to Die" Ikaria has an energy that is apparent but subtly so. The island is a step back in history where time seems to stand still and people live by the sunrise, sunset, and the tides of the magical Aegean..not by the timestamp on your smartphone. Read on for what to do, and where to go when visiting the Greek island of Ikaria.
