Summer vacations are over, which means that fall trips have begun. For me, the major difference between summer vacations and fall trips is that fall trips tend to be shorter - more like a weekend getaway. This can be true for many reasons: you spent a month away during the summer, your office has its busiest time during the fall, or you prefer to enjoy the weather changes right where you live. For any reason, you may take shorter (more frequent trips) during the fall months, which means that you may have to pack smarter (and smaller). Read on for my weekend getaway essentials for all different types of weekend getaways - happy traveling!
What are you grateful for? Seems like an easy enough question to answer and most of us would probably start rattling off the obvious: our families, spouses, our friends, our health, careers, etc. If you really dial it down a bit more though and go beneath the surface of the first things that come to mind you will be amazed to see just how much more there is to the concept of gratitude. I came across a 30 Day Gratitude Challenge image on Pinterest at the beginning of this month and it was all I needed to prompt myself to dig a little deeper...
As I was looking at my calendar for the month of October, I noticed one thing: I am traveling EVERY weekend. Needless to say, I am exhausted just looking at my plans for the month. As I am currently getting over a cold, I know that I need to ensure that I don't exhaust myself this month - otherwise all through November I will spend my time recovering...which I don't have time for...LOL. Anyway, after coming up with my own methods that were going to help me to survive this month without burning myself out, I decided that I wanted to share them with you too. I can't certainly be the only one that can experience a travel burn out, if this is you too - read on!
So happy to have teamed up with Clarissa from The View From Here Is blog out in Boulder, Colorado. She wrote an amazingly thorough travel guide with recommendations galore of what to do, where to eat, and she also included some great snippets of history regarding the city and most importantly how to just have a really great time if your travel plans take you out West. I had no idea that Boulder, CO had a "sister city" in Tajikstan!!! Who knew? Read on for all about Boulder Colorado!!! You're up Clarissa!!
As we enter the third day of October, leaves are changing color, nights are getting cooler, and clothing is getting thicker...well at least that is what is going on in the northeast right now. For all of you who live in warmer climates, I envy you. Anyway, I digress. In the U.S., there are two main holidays celebrated in October: Columbus Day and Halloween. And although Columbus Day certainly means a lot to most Americans, Halloween is by far the more "fun" holiday out of the two. Besides the fab decor that comes with Halloween, the other aspect of it is dressing up! I have rounded up some fab (animal ears not included) Halloween costumes that you won't be embarrassed looking back at years from now.
